Project Spotlight: Thameside x Cotman Close (aka Fun Wizzer Park!)
Our collaboration with Thameside School and the residents of Cotman Close – now joyfully renamed Fun Wizzer Park by the young creatives, has been a highlight of our season. The project brought together different generations through creativity, conversation, and care for shared space.
Together, we co-created public art, through 20 workshops with the wonderful Tom Mclean.
Impact in Numbers:
192 children from Thameside School took part
50 Cotman Close residents connected with us as we installed the artwork
1 newly renamed community space: Fun Wizzer Park
100% of participants said they felt “happy,” “creative,” or “proud” after the sessions
💬 Voices from the Project:
“I didn’t know I could do something that would stay in the park. Now everyone can see it!” – Year 5 pupil
“It’s been a joy to have the children visit – the laughter and the art made it feel more like home again.” – Cotman Close resident
This project was about more than art – it was about belonging, joy, and shared pride. It’s exactly the kind of creative connection we love to nurture.
Flower Firework Sessions
The younger years participated in Flower Firework sessions led by the wonderful Sarah from New Leaf Forest School. These sessions allowed the children to explore nature and creativity, culminating in the spreading of wildflower seeds in a dedicated area of the park during the open day. This initiative not only beautified the space but also fostered a sense of ownership and environmental stewardship among the children.
