Our October Journey Bright Hearts & Bold Ideas

Welcome to our October Updates, the seasons of Creativity, Connection & Change

As the leaves turned and the air shifted, October invited us to slow down, reflect, and create. It’s been a month full of colour — from exhibitions and workshops to new projects that are taking root. This season has been all about growth, gratitude, and the gentle power of creative connection.

What’s On & Coming Up

🌈Introducing Bright Hearts🌈

A new creative confidence-building group for children aged 7–11 starting 4th November 💖

Bright Hearts is a kind, supportive space for young people who may find confidence or friendships tricky — a place to explore emotions, build self-belief, and celebrate being themselves.

Each month we’ll welcome special guests who’ll share tools and ideas to support emotions and self-expression.
✨ Our first session features Jacque from Crystaljax, exploring crystals and connection — a magical start to our Bright Hearts journey!

Through fun, creative activities and gentle wellbeing tools, children can create, connect, and shine. 🌟

Creative Climate Champions

We’re excited to announce that we are launching The Creative Climate Champions programme - a year-long journey exploring creativity, sustainability, and community-led climate action.
As part of this, we’ll be working monthly with Caldecott School and Thameside School, while also supporting the ongoing development of our Creative Me programme. Together, these projects will help us nurture creativity while taking meaningful steps toward positive climate impact — from upcycling and re-imagining materials to inspiring young people to become changemakers in their own right. Funded by The Vale of The White Horse Climate Action Fund.

Autumn Art Pop-Up

Our Autumn Art Pop-Up celebrates nature and our autumn surroundings - focusing on accessible, sustainable creativity using what’s around us: nature itself!
Together we’ll be making leaf crowns, mini brooms, and a community art piece to bring a little extra joy to the season.
This event is led by Makespace, facilitated by Life Styling, and funded by the Vale of White Horse District Council, a true collaboration that brings creativity, nature, and community together in celebration of the autumn season. We will welcome local artists and creatives to share their skills.

Reflections & Highlights

Creative Peer Sessions

This month marked the first of three Creative Peer Sessions through Makespace Oxfordshire and supported by OSEP, which I’ve been honoured to facilitate and support. These sessions bring together a diverse group of creative minds to share stories, exchange skills, and explore the many ways creativity can inspire social change. It’s been a joy to witness the openness, connection, and ideas emerging - and we’re excited to see how the next two sessions continue to grow this creative community.

Damascus Exhibition Celebration

We were thrilled to celebrate the Damascus Exhibition, a beautiful collaboration that brought art and community together. It was a joy to invite members of the Abingdon Art Society, who kindly funded the project — alongside local councillors who continue to support creative youth work. A special highlight was hearing one of our young people sing, filling the space with confidence, talent, and heart.

Welcome Michele

We’re delighted to welcome Michele to our board. Michele’s experience stems from HR and a wide range of people-focused skills, and her passion for intergenerational connection is a wonderful thread we’re weaving into many of our current and future projects. Her warmth, creativity, and commitment to community make her a perfect addition to the Life Space Project team, and we’re so excited to grow with her on this journey.

Hospital Leaf Art

We also took a moment for reflection and calm through our Hospital Leaf Art project. These hand-painted leaves, created with love and care, became small messages of hope and healing — gentle reminders of the beauty found in both nature and creativity.

As the season changes, we’re grateful for the connections, creativity, and courage that continue to grow through every project. October has truly been a month in full colour - and we can’t wait to see how these seeds continue to bloom.

Here’s to more creativity, connection, and climate care as we step into the rest of the year.
