february: What’s Blooming at Life Projects This Spring

Spring has arrived and so has a new season of creativity at Life Projects.

We have a full year of programmes, pop-ups, community spaces and public art unfolding. This month marks the beginning of that rhythm.

Here’s what’s happening & don’t miss our latest paid opportunities…

Bloom Launches 19th March

Our first Bloom pop-up takes place on Thursday 19th March at Cotman Close Park Abingdon.

Bloom is creativity in nature. Open, visible and welcoming.

Drop in. Stay for ten minutes or an hour. Come alone or with family.

We’ll be focusing on:
• Upcycling and sustainable making
• Nature-inspired art
• Intergenerational creativity

Look out for our wonderfully creative gazebo — this marks a new visual chapter for Life Projects, beautifully shaped with Ella.

This is the first of a series running throughout the year.

Thank you to SNG Thriving Communities for making this possible!

Creative Call Out – Paid Opportunities

As Bloom and our wider programmes grow, we’re opening up paid support roles and creative collaboration opportunities.

If you’re a local creative and would like to:

• Support pop-ups
• Contribute to mural development
• Assist within youth or intergenerational sessions
• Grow your facilitation experience

You can get first access to opportunities by signing up below.

Subscribers hear about roles and projects before they are shared more widely.

We’re building a creative circle, not just posting announcements.

Creative Climate Champions

Our young people are redesigning clothing, learning new techniques and exploring sustainable fashion terms.

It’s been amazing to watch their confidence grow as they take something that might have been discarded and completely re-imagine it.

Re-using clothing really does demand creativity. You have to look at a garment differently. Turn it. Layer it. Unpick it. Add to it. Think beyond what it was.

And the designs so far? Bold, colourful and full of personality.

Sustainability isn’t restrictive. It’s inventive.

Creative Me

Creative Me is stretching further this term.

We’re building technical skills, experimenting with sustainable fashion techniques and learning the language behind the industry, from upcycling and textile impact to slow fashion principles.

It’s exciting to see the group grow in confidence as they re-imagine clothing, refine their ideas and support one another as their designs evolve.

The Creative Me team also have new opportunities to expand beyond our sessions. They’ll be joining us on upcoming projects, contributing pieces, sharing their work and stepping into wider community moments across the year.

Creative Me isn’t just about learning skills.
It’s about developing voice, confidence and creative leadership.

We currently have two spaces available to join this term. If you know someone who would thrive in a supportive, sustainability-focused creative space, get in touch.

Bright Hearts

Our first Bright Hearts session brought gentle intergenerational connection through a simple folded paper activity. Each figure began the same, but when opened out, every person was beautifully unique.

We are welcoming isolated and elderly participants to join us.

We still have 1 space available for older participants, and the sessions are designed to be welcoming, simple, and supportive.

Each session includes:

  • A gentle welcome into the space

  • Light creative activities (no experience needed)

  • Conversation, connection, and shared making

  • A warm sense of belonging across generations

If you know someone who might enjoy joining us, please do reach out.

Hospital Sessions

Alongside our programmes, we’re bringing gentle creative moments into hospital spaces.

Shared drawing sessions and handwritten love notes have created small but powerful moments of connection.

Small gestures. Real impact

A New Visual Chapter

You may notice Life Projects beginning to look a little different this season.

This evolution reflects our growth, more visible, more rooted, more connected.

Thank you again to Ella for bringing this vision to life.

This year is about visible creativity.
Sustainability in action.
Community connection that feels real.

If you’d like to be part of it, sign up for early access to opportunities or come and find us at Bloom on 19th March.

Let your ideas bloom.

Thank you to our funders, contributors and community

None of this would be possible without you all, heres to continuing to spread joy and creativity across Abingdon.

With warmth and gratitude,

Jess
